Schoology
Add Flash Reference to Schoology as an external tool provider for your school.
You'll need to be an admin in Flash Reference and a system administrator in Schoology.
Before you start
In Flash Reference, open Settings → Production and keep your Production Consumer Key and Production Secret at hand. They're your organization's own. The Test tab has a second key and secret, for a test copy of Schoology.
Add Flash Reference to Schoology
- As a system administrator, go to Tools → School Management → Integration → External Tools and select Add External Tool Provider.
- Enter:
- Tool Name: Flash Reference
- Consumer Key and Shared Secret: your Production Consumer Key and Secret
- Privacy: Send Name and Email/Username of user who launches the tool
- Configuration Type: Manual
- Match By: Domain, with
flash-reference.com
- Select Submit.
Adding decks to a course
With an LTI 1.1 connection, each deck needs its own link in Schoology. Contact us and we'll help set those links up. With LTI 1.3 (below), teachers choose decks from a list instead.
LTI 1.3
Schoology can also connect with LTI 1.3, which lets teachers pick decks from a list:
- Create an LTI 1.3 App under App Center → My Developer Apps, with the details in Another LMS with LTI 1.3. Turn on Deep Linking, and install the app.
- In Flash Reference, add Schoology's details under Settings → LTI 1.3 → Connect by hand.
If something looks different
These steps follow Schoology's own documentation, and menus can differ between versions and setups. If a screen doesn't match, contact us and we'll help.
