Blackboard Learn
Register Flash Reference with Blackboard Learn as an LTI tool provider.
You'll need to be an admin in Flash Reference and a system administrator in Blackboard.
Before you start
In Flash Reference, open Settings → Production and keep your Production Consumer Key and Production Secret at hand. They're your organization's own. The Test tab has a second key and secret, for a test copy of Blackboard.
Register Flash Reference
- In the Administrator Panel, go to Integrations → LTI Tool Providers and select Register LTI 1.1 Provider.
- Enter:
- Provider Domain:
flash-reference.com - Provider Domain Status: Approved
- Default Configuration: Set globally, with your Consumer Key as the Tool Provider Key and your Secret as the Tool Provider Secret
- Send User Data: Send user data only over SSL
- User Fields to Send: Role in Course, Name and Email Address
- Provider Domain:
- Select Submit.
Adding decks to a course
With an LTI 1.1 connection, each deck needs its own link in Blackboard. Contact us and we'll help set those links up, including for courses in the Ultra view.
About LTI 1.1 in Blackboard
Blackboard is retiring LTI 1.1 tools by September 30, 2027, in favor of LTI 1.3. To connect with LTI 1.3, follow Another LMS with LTI 1.3: Blackboard needs the deployment ID it gives you.
If something looks different
These steps follow Blackboard's own documentation, and menus can differ between versions and setups. If a screen doesn't match, contact us and we'll help.
