Putting a deck on a WordPress site
Copy a deck's shortcode into a WordPress page.
You can put any deck on a WordPress website with a shortcode. Your organization's admin turns WordPress on first and installs the Flash Reference plugin on the site. See Setting up WordPress.
Copy the shortcode
- Open the deck in the card editor.
- Select WordPress Short Code at the top. The shortcode is copied, and the button says Copied!

The button only shows once your admin has turned on WordPress. It's turned off for a deck with Restrict Access to Learning Management System on, because that deck only opens from your LMS: on a website, students would see This deck is only available in your course. To put such a deck on a website, select Settings (at the top of the card editor, or on the deck's row in the list of decks) and turn the restriction off on the Details tab.
Add it to a page
- Edit the page or post in WordPress.
- Add a Shortcode block and paste the shortcode.
- Publish or update the page.
The shortcode looks like this:
[flashreference deck="…" auth="…"]
The deck fills the width of the page and is at least 680 pixels tall. To change its size, add height, width, minheight or minwidth inside the brackets, for example minheight="500px".
Who can study it, and what's saved
That depends on how your site's plugin is set up:
| Site setup | Visitors who aren't logged in | Visitors who are logged in |
|---|---|---|
| Require login on | See Log in to study this deck. | Can study; progress saved if the site has a secret |
| Require login off | Study as guests; nothing saved | Can study; progress saved if the site has a secret |
Progress (marks and the review schedule) is only saved when the site signs its launches with a site secret. Without one, logged-in visitors keep their bookmarks but not their progress. Your admin sets this up.
Students who study on your website show up in your results under the WordPress course.
